1️⃣Break a sweat. I always like to get in a workout before sporting my swim suit. Working out promotes digestion, helping you feel leaner. Simply put, exercise increases movement in your gastrointestinal tract; stimulating the intestinal muscles to move contents through the digestive system.
2️⃣Stay away from foods that bloat you. This may seem obvious, however, if you want to look lean, stick to foods that your body easily digests. I don’t discriminate against any types of vegetables, EXCEPT when I have to wear a swimsuit. I usually stay away from cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc.), as these foods trigger an expansion in my midsection.
3️⃣Reduce your carbs. Dropping your carbs about a week prior, will allow you to deplete your body's glycogen levels. Glycogen is the storage form of carbohydrates in your body, and can be burned for immediate fuel, or can be stored in muscles for use at a later time. Dropping carbs depletes your body's glycogen stores. Glycogen stored in muscle holds water. For each gram of carbohydrate, your body needs to hold onto 3 grams of water. So basically eating extra carbs will cause a temporary weight gain due to fluid retention. While at the beach I typically stick to lean proteins. Remember, although these tricks will help you look a little leaner in the short, the only way to see longterm results is by consistently living a healthy lifestyle.

My Instagram feed is typically filled with Fitspos showing off their shredded bodies (because let’s be honest, it’s a valid form of marketing), but these pictures can be misleading, especially when these same ripped bodies are accompanied by pictures of that person eating ice cream, pizza and cookies. Although these accounts say it’s because as long as you burn more calories than you eat, you’ll lose fat, they’re leaving out the most important part: they aren’t eating like that all day. These Fitspos show you their treat meals because that’s what intrigues people. It makes you curious and you want to know how they can eat like that, and look the way they do (and you’re probably going to be more interested in buying their services or ebook). But the truth is, most of their meals aren’t 'junk.' Most of their meals are probably pretty boring. And for the most part they’re probably eating basically the same meals everyday. But that’s not fun or sexy or good marketing. It’s just true. Personally, 90% of my meals are lean protein and vegetables. Do I indulge? Occasionally. But don’t for a second believe anyone who makes it seem like all they eat is the fun stuff while getting shredded. They might eat some, but I can guarantee you it’s a very small percentage of their overall diet.

It doesn’t matter if I’m trying to lose body fat or put on lean muscle, I make sure to get at least one gram of protein per pound of body weight.
I am not a good cook, nor do I like cook, but I have to get in my protein.
I DO like to grill! One way that helps me use whole foods, and quickly, is I always try to grill some extra meats. That way I can use the extra for meals later in the week.
Now remember, whole foods are always better than supplements or processed foods, except for post workout of course.
My sources of protein for my three main meals typically stay the same week to week.
🍳 Eggs: Most breakfasts
🥞 Protein Pancakes/Waffles
🥩 Steak
🐓 Chicken
🐂 Lean Beef
🦃 Deli Turkey
As a parent of toddlers, I usually take the girls places in the mornings, so sometimes I need something, quick, easy, and on the go.
That’s when my pre-packaged or supplement protein sources help out.

🍦Greek Yogurt (Dannon Light & Fit)
🍖 Beef Jerky

My response when asked about which one to get it usually ‘why do you think you want or need one?’ I’ve gotta be honest and say the reason for me taking it is to flavour my smoothies and oats, I’m always sceptical on the absorption rate of supplements and therefore their effectiveness..
My friend @blairepagehealthfitness asked me to sample this because she is a distributor for it.
So far, I like it. A few things I’ve noticed since taking (and I shit you not) I don’t get bloated from it, I don’t have to run to the toilet after having it, my nails feels stronger and my hair growth has increased at a faster rate than usual.. now these are all benefits of taking the right protein in general.. most of all I like the flavour! So I don’t mind having it as a snack.
At first I wasn’t fussed on the name ‘Skinny Mini Protein’ but then I learnt that the owner and creator is an Aussie, female PT who wanted her clients to feel confident that what they were taking wasn’t going to make them “Bulky”
Made sense.
So for those of you wondering; this is what I take. 1-2 times a day in my smoothie, on my oats, in my protein balls, or on its own. And I get it from my beautiful friend.

Then hit your protein at 0.82-1.0 grams per pound of bodyweight (you can even go a tad higher to 1.2 grams if you're into that sort of thing).⠀ Once calories are in check, let’s focus on that super hero strength:
No need to pick up a truck for your workouts, but you should be picking up heavy things a few times per week.
Toss in some cardio (like walking or even HIIT from time to time) to build il that endurance for the epic battle.

Although protein is great to take post workout, it’s not the only time when people take it. Most of your protein should be coming from whole food sources but sometimes it just doesn’t always work that way during the day. I typically take protein 1-3 times daily depending on the day and what I’m eating. I might have a scoop with breakfast, another after a workout then make a quick shake before bed. Now the question is why? Well, here are a few reasons... protein makes you feel fuller longer which will make you consume less calories during the day if you’re wanting to lose weight. It helps you maintain (or grow) muscle mass. Protein can significantly boost metabolism and increase the amount of calories you burn during the day. And another reason is as you age your muscles weaken, and protein can help prevent the muscle loss with aging! How often do you supplement with protein during the day?!

Today we are going for a few mile hike to see waterfalls. For my hiking fuel I made us some HOMEMADE Blueberry Muffin Level-1 protein cakes! This is the first time
I have made these pancakes with the Blueberry Muffin Level-1 and holy shit! 😋 •
These things are delicious and are packed with balanced macro nutrients to fuel you for some actively. These cakes have about:
