Do you take the time to fill up your cup of happiness?
For so long, I continued to pour from an empty cup. I felt empty, but continued to shine positivity to others to feel a type of fulfilment in making others happy. I continuously looked for the satisfaction in others happiness and thought that was more important than my own happiness.
For so long, I would care about what others thought about me, and stopped thinking about what I thought about myself. Through the periods of ups and downs I would burn out and go to a dark place which was often a struggle to get out of.
Until I started giving myself the care and attention it needed, and thought about myself as number one. What made me happy? What made me feel fulfilled? And how could I continue to fill up my cup.
That meant loosing touch with some people, meant saying no to more things so I could prioritise the things I wanted to do, and meant I spent more time with myself and being ok with being alone.
Now, I know when my cup is empty and when I need to fill it up. I know who fills up my cup and who drains it. And I don’t compromise the things that make ME happy just go please others. To be comfortable in who you are and being ok with rejection and dissatisfaction from others is a huge task, but one I am proud that I will no longer compromise for me.
Your cup is just as important as anyone else’s, and if someone isn’t happy with how you manage that - are the even worth it?

Last week I attended an event on mental health, A gentleman stood up and started crying seeking help from the panel as he felt guilty that his mother was \'broken\' and \'hurt\' and he didnt know how to help her, the answer given on the night concluded with unsatisfactory advice, and i could\'nt step in and share my opinion.
But as this has been bothering me for a whole week, I want to share the solution for however many people this will reach.
If your mothers are broken or depressed, especially single mothers out there, please ask yourself how much significance are they receiving from you, how much connection and love are you giving them? 2 of our very basic human needs are connection/love and significance. Our mothers began serving us from before we were born, until we became independent, so when we became independent a massive void was created in their lives hence why they feel less significant and loved by us, which makes them feel less motivated and fulfilled in life.
