It's been awhile since I've posted something on the microbiome, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been thinking about it. The last couple weeks I have been focusing on the microbiome in the lab and looking at how factors such as diet and disease can change the composition.
Most of the time in research we are focused on the gut microbiome. We know that there is a gut brain connection and it is even thought that the gut microbiome may function as a second brain. But what I find even more fascinating is research that has shown that there might be microbes in the the brain! While the results are still preliminary at least one study has found evidence of bacteria in brain tissue which suggests that there might be a brain microbiome (https://tinyurl.com/drb-phd31). More research is necessary but it does show us that we have so much more to learn about the microbes that are all over and in our bodies. Microbes are amazing 😊.

I have learned the basic fundamentals of boxing under the tutelage of @caryleewilliams and got to be taught basic weightlifting by whom I’ve considered a mentor for YEARS, the kingpin of the Total Alpha Brand, @damienpatrick. En Sabbai nos preguntan mucho cómo medimos el progreso si no hacemos pellizcos con caliper o los medimos con la cinta métrica cada 4 semanas 🤔🤔 Medimos el progreso de la forma más básica pero precisa, y como lo he hecho toda la vida: con fotos y con como me queda la ropa 🙃 Si mis camisas me quedan más holgadas, mis jeans favoritos flojos en la cintura pero apretados en el booty 🍑.... entonces es una buena señal 😅😛 Si todo me queda apretado y no encuentro un buen ángulo para una foto, sé que es hora de volver a a la dieta 😂😂😂 El peso es solo un número en la báscula. No te dice si estás más definida o si estás perdiendo músculo, ni si el cambio de peso es por agua o grasa. El peso se ve afectado por la hora del día, la comida del día anterior, si ya fueron al baño o no, si están en ayunas o no, si tomaron mucha agua o no... Especialmente las mujeres tendemos a tener un peso muy fluctuante a través de nuestro ciclo menstrual.
Sean objetivos: se VEN mejor que hace 3 meses o no? Se gustan en las fotos o no? El cambio se ve muy claro. Y si no se ve, eso también nos dice algo. Conozcan a su propio cuerpo y aprendan a analizarlo! Add in the confectioner's sugar, one cup at a time. Beat for 3-4 minutes, scraping down the sides occasionally. Add in the vanilla and espresso powder and beat another 5-7 minutes. 👩🏽‍🍳PREPARACION:
🔸 Prepara las pechugas en un recipiente donde quepan justas, pon agua suficiente para cubrirlas. 🔸Diluye la sal (1 gramo de sal por cada 10 gramos de agua) y añade las pechugas. Tapa y deja media hora. 🔸 Escurre las pechugas y seca bien con papel absorbente. 🔸Coloca en un plato y espolvorea con ajo, pimienta y las hierbas (tomillo, perejil). 🔸Añade ahora un hilito de aceite de oliva y unta bien por todo el pollo.
🔸 Mete cada pechuga en una bolsa de vacío o en una bolsa con cierre ZIP. Elimina el aire y deja la carne lo más pegada a la bolsa. 🔸Hay que meter la bolsa en agua a temperatura 60 grados durante 75 minutos. Es más fácil con robots de cocina.
🔸Cuando acabe sacamos las bolsas y dejamos enfriar.

👩🏻‍🍳For my waffles: Whisk 2 egg whites, add 1 tsp baking powder with 1/3 cup water and whisk again, add 1/4 cup Ground Oats, 1 scoop questnutrition Multi-Purpose Mix, 2 tsp Pizza seasoning and 1/4 tsp Everything but the Bagel and whisk everything well with a fork and let your batter sit for 10 minutes 🙂
Pour half the batter into a hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining batter. Add 1 TBS Tahini on top and enjoy! Yield: 2 waffles .
