Such a good day of lifting! Who knew that sleep, low stress, and piggy-backing off yesterday's high at Pull for Pride could help so much?! Bench: 2x5 at 60kg, 3x5 at 62.5kg (137.8)
Back in December, I failed a set of 5 at 135.
Overhead press: Got one set of 5 at 100 (my 1RM from my CrossFit days), but overshot RPE a bit, so went back down to 95.
Pullups: 3x5 assisted, 2x5 at bodyweight! Bodyweight 153 this morning, the heaviest I've ever been doing pullups.
DB row with a massive 90?! Obviously my new Hulk straps helped with that 😀
I *could* say that big things are coming. And hopefully they are. But most of the time when I've said that, I've been sorely disappointed 😂 So I'll just take this good workout as is, and be open to whatever crazy stuff my body is willing to do next week.

Footage from last Tuesday 6-11-19. Woke up on friday 6-7-19 and felt like pretty much death. Got some of the stuff done I wanted to but not all of it. Decided to go back and try to get the ssb squats done this night. Last set here. Ended with an amrap of 11 the video cuts out. But this was 11 reps at 290. This was as the gym was closing as well. I see stuff all over Instagram daily about how training is fun and people having a good time. This is all well and good. Some of us like myself do take this shit very seriously. Probably to the point where it's over the top even. I cant shut it off I cant change it. To me this isnt a game or just something to pass the time. Here is the thing, unless you are in a USA sanctioned meet, squat depth is subjective. Does this mean if I have 400 on the rack for a squat go quarter depth, absolutely not, but if someone benches 315 does not completely come down they don't deserve to be burned at the steak. We don't know what injuries people have suffered. We don't know what they have been taught. What we do know is this person is trying to grow and getter, and whether it bothers you or not, it can effect whether person continues to train or not. When I work with someone, I first give positive feedback, then point out how they can master or get better at the lift. So I’m still new to power lifting but this was a big milestone for me, I had squats 2x1 today the first set at 395 wasn’t quite low enough but I’m pretty happy with the depth on 405 which is also an all time PR!💪🏼 I’ve been training under @ct_whitney on the @whitney.sp squad and I couldn’t be happier with the coaching and the progress! Still have a lot to learn but we out here climbing 📈

This can be super frustrating and I know from personal experience. At one point, my neglect of simple dynamic stretching led to an injury that stalled my progress and almost took me out of the game altogether.
.
At the time, I didn’t understand what I call “The Dynamic Sextant.” .
Thing is, You WANT to train hard, give it your best and be the highest level you can be, but if you’re neglecting these basic essential elements of preparation, you could be at risk of injury too.
.
You might think, oh it’s just a sore or tight muscle, it’ll go away…
.
… but those signals are there for a reason.
.
The signals I got were too late: After drilling some basic jiu jitsu techniques one day, I went to defend myself against a basic arm bar. You know, the one you see on UFC almost every match. As I locked my grip, I could feel my pec burning, but played it off as no big deal.
.
Afterwards, I realized the truth: torn pec muscle.
.
It was then that I reflected and realized I had neglected my dynamic warmup and set myself up for disaster.
.
If I had slowed down, and applied these tried and true principles, I would’ve saved myself months of pain and frustration.
.
So here’s the thing: I don’t wanna see this happen to you or anyone else, so I created a kick ass little routine, which I call the “Dynamic Sextant” because it’s 6 super simple preparation techniques that will maximize your ability to avoid unnecessary injuries and keep the gains rollin in like the thunder.

This weather got me thinking of last winter ❄️ As it gets colder that only means one thing! Winter sports 🏂
In this photo I hiked from the bottom of the mountain to the summit! I had stacked the fortnight before and smashed my coccyx bone something shocking and couldn’t afford to fall on it again. So instead I hiked up the mountain all the way to the top! 🏔
