We launched Part & Parcel in Anchorage for so many reasons: The state has been in a three year long recession, "gig" platforms are virtually non-existent, making earning alternative income a struggle. It's a state with a substantial plus size population but a virtual clothing desert for plus: no one ships to Alaska, Amazon Prime takes 9+ days to deliver, and Wal-Marts (the only current brick and mortar option) are closing due to high operating costs.
These reasons and more made it the perfect place to launch Part & Parcel - a social commerce community sold peer-to-peer, or as we call it Plus-to-Plus.
This company is not just about selling people stuff. It's always been about real, live community creation, and income opportunity for Plus - a community that faces workplace discrimination orders of magnitude more often than "straight-size" counterparts.
We've done it. Women in Alaska are paying their bills as a result of one three-hour long event.
Thank you Fortune for sharing the beauty of what we're creating. At our core, a world where plus thrives. #PandP #PartAndParcel #PlusToPlus #DimensionalSizing
